Hey guys,
Bit of technical jargon, I have been working on making UKAPS fully encrypted using SSL certificates.
Reason for this, I have had this on the works for a while just finding the time to get around to doing it, mainly the traffic from UKAPS is now encrypted from the server to your device and is not easily sniffed by anyone across the internet, so your data remains private including your passwords.
Also Apple are dropping support for http in their Apps from January so things like Tapatalk app would stop working if we did not move to https encryption, so we are now ready for that also.
You should see a lock next to the URL on your browser to indicate this, you could get some warning about insecure content on pages, this will mainly happen when someone as linked an external image via a source that starts with http rather than https, this can be on posts or member signatures, where possible use https to link to external sources/resources. Some browsers will actually block this content and you will have to click on a warning to enable this content so beware if images don't show up properly.
I recommend uploading the photos via the UKAPS built in facilities. The "Upload a File" button on post creation.
In terms of functionality there is no difference and just enjoy UKAPS as normal
If you want to read more about it, here a good article: HTTPS Web Security
Cheers
Paulo
