Hello, i was using rotala butterfly and i checked to dose easylife profito, when i saw what was in the product i was shocked, why do they add cobalt, Fluor, Sn, Li etc ?

Is there a use for plants or is it just marketing ?

I think what you see at the bottom of this list such as Li (lithium), Sn (Tin) Al (Aluminium) etc. may just be collateral - in other words: impurities from other minerals and what happens to be in their water source etc. that will show up in an advanced analysis. Cobalt may have some merit as it supports Nitrogen fixation. At least I’m not aware of any need for Li, Sn or Al…. I suppose they could even detect gold (Au) in there if they would look hard enough 🙂

Cheers,
Michael

@eminor you might find this discussion useful Seachem Trace Clone

Seachem Trace Derived from: copper sulfate, cobalt sulfate, manganese sulfate, boric acid, sodium molybdate, zinc sulfate, rubidium chloride, nickel chloride, vanadium sulfate

So as you can see, cobalt, rubidium, nickel, vanadium are not coming from impurities but are added as they can be beneficial. however, the most important elements are Fe, Mn, B, Zn, Cu, Mo.

Hi @Happi, Whats your take on the Li, Sn or Al that @eminor quotes?

Cheers,

Li, Sn, Al can be good or bad as they can stimulate the plant growth, but they are rather more toxic and are not truly needed. Unless one day we hear that one of these elements are important for plant growth, am gonna leave them alone till then. Just like Nickel, it was never considered important untill later on it became a very important trace element.
