Hi All,

I am trying to find a white background for my tank. I tried using the self adhesive vinyl from B&Q but it is just aweful. Has small air/water/adhesive pockets throughoutt. I would prefer static cling vinyl but these generally only seem to come in frosted. Can anyone recommend a good solid white static cling vinyl with links or brand names or something.

Thanks in advance

tried the same and agree that is terrible. Hopefully someone can help out as I’m after some aswell 😅

when applying anything adhesive to glass you need to use some soapy water to lower the surface energy of the glass (stop it being so sticky).

Frosted vinyl works far better as it’s actually intended for glass.

Equally you can order a white backing online.
I used cutmyplastic.co.uk I then relied on the bracket’s for my light to hold this in place.

If any of you are close to windsor, I’m happy to give this away.

It’s 90cm x 53cm

Generally what I use are called "window films". They come in a wide variety of different colours, tints, and grades, and as suggested above you can use soapy water to adjust them into contact. A squeegee is a very useful tool for removing bubbles, but you end up with plenty of time to adjust them into place. They are usually easy to remove with a bit of hot air. You get what you pay for in terms of quality, but if you order from a specialist supplier then you should get a product fit for purpose. I tend to use frosted ones, so I do not have a provider that does white. Also, some companies offer either a permanent or a temporary adhesive.
