White Algae Stuff appearing again

Hello all

Two tanks, both shrimp only, one didnt have any white algae stuff as all the Rodmoor and Mopani was from other tanks. Small tank had a new piece of Redmoor in it which I attached some Anubias to.

Recently decommissioned the small tank and put the Redmoor which was covered with this white crap into the big tank after a wipe down and removing as much as possible.

Now I see the other wood in the big tank is getting this white crap on them again.

Whats causing it and how do I stop it?

No ferts, no CO2.

I think its just the wood decomposing. I've had this and was told it was nothing to worry about. I just cleaned it off with a toothbrush and eventually it disappeared.

it's probably a fungus which in autumn start "blooming"....maybe a small change in your tank triggered this

Not a happy monkey. Might get some hydrogen piroxide today and spray that on the wood

Your shrimp/snails will munch a bit of it. It should just go on its own though, no need to add random chemicals.

Don't worry, wipe it off and suck it into a bucket. It does no harm to your tank or you! By using H2O2 you are more likely to do damage to your tank than the white stuff can do😉

Thanks all. Seems as though the shrimp was just lazy in the previous tank. The new tank's shrimps seem to be loving it.

Still smells weird though
