Whats happening to my shrimp

You might post this over on the Shrimp Spot but I think it's infected stock rather than low calcium or soft water etc - I doubt your water is softer than mine (KH 0-1, GH 1-2) yet I rarely see this happen in shrimp .. I do feed frozen bloodworm & brine shrimp & daphnia etc

What type of shrimp? how active have they been - at the shop? & at home?

It may be related to something leaching out of the dirt or sand - have you used both previously in setup? - maybe move some shrimp over from your 300l & observe ...
You might also try adding carbon to the filter (if there is a filter)

It would just be a temporary addition while sorting out the shrimp issue ... after a month or so, carbon is seldom"active" anymore anyway 🙂

Have you got pictures of these shrimp? Most shrimp prefer stable water parameters along side a low tds on no more than 200. Im quite lucky though as the CRS I have have been bred in tap water so have already acclimated to my water. I have really hard water out of my tap is 400tds so have to use RO water when doing water changes to bring it down. But they seem to be doing fine.

The soil is organic, but I can't rule out any chemicals in it. Yesterday evening I looked if I could find any living shrimp and the once I could see seem to be doing fine again....lively, good transparent again...lets see what happens next.
I want to make sure that my water is good before adding Amano shrimp and fish.
