I have a tub of TNC Trace Mix I found in my shed, which I am going to use in my fert mix, but I'm not sure which chelator is used, as I have very hard water I think I need dtpa? does anybody know or where can I find out the info.
They don't do it any more, It was bought more than ten years ago if i remember, it's when you could get all the different salts from them. You might have to try to contact the company for that info.
Fwiw, their Complete Aquarium Plant Food lists EDTA.
Their Iron AT lists DPTA which is good for pH in the low 7s but by the time pH gets to 8 about 80% of the iron will be precipitated out.
The strongest chelator is EDHAA which keeps iron available up to pH 9 or more.
They don’t list a trace mix on their site so perhaps they no longer offer it.
Things always change, don’t they? They don't do it any more, It was bought more than ten years ago if i remember, it's when you could get all the different salts from them.
Mostly for the worse.Things always change, don’t they?
As far as I recall, it contains EDTA chelation but no DTPA. Is there any label or additional information on the tub?I have a tub of TNC Trace Mix I found in my shed, which I am going to use in my fert mix, but I'm not sure which chelator is used, as I have very hard water I think I need dtpa? does anybody know or where can I find out the info.
No, just lists the ingredients and iron is just shown as fe, doesn't say what chelatorAs far as I recall, it contains EDTA chelation but no DTPA. Is there any label or additional information on the tub?
Can you take a picture? No, just lists the ingredients and iron is just shown as fe, doesn't say what chelator
I am working away at the minute but will be back Friday/Saturday so will get one then. Can you take a picture?
As mentioned earlier, and as @Hanuman pointed out, it is EDTA-based. Most companies generally use EDTA, while some combine both EDTA and DTPA, especially for Iron.
Sounds good, so I presume I mix the 2 50/50 and mix in water to dose as per TNC instructions?I highly recommend considering Solufeed Coir TEC. You can also combine both, using 0.05 ppm Fe from TNC and 0.05 ppm Fe from Solufeed Coir TEC.

What is the size of your aquarium? Will you be using a 500 ml container to mix and store the solution? What is your preferred dosage, such as 10 ml, 20 ml, etc.?Sounds good, so I presume I mix the 2 50/50 and mix in water to dose as per TNC instructions?

Dosage doesn't matter as I have dosers but as a rule I try to dose 50ml (It's my ocd causing me to have a round figure)
