What algae pad?

Is there a detergent free pad I can get from a supermarket that can be used to clean algae off the inside of an acrylic tank?

acrylic? don't use an abrasive pad.
perhaps a soft sponge

I don't have algae on glass but I use clean paper towel folded into fourths, to clean glass on my tanks taking care not to allow tiny snails to get between towel and glass. 😉
