Hi Everyone,
At some point in the future, I will be away from home for a week or two and have started to worry about how to prevent my weir box teeth from clogging with leaves leading to an overflow of my display tank. I plan on pursuing a few avenues for redundancy but thought I'd share the leaf guard/dam I came up with. I can't tank all the credit for it since I only came up with the idea and the rough design and a local 3D print shop worked out the details and printed it for me. The leaf guard is basically a three sides square that hangs on the front of the overflow. Water enters through the open bottom and enters the weir box normally but the front wall prevents any floating debris from reaching the weir teeth. I'm already thinking that a V2 design might be in order with slots on the front wall so I don't totally lose surface skimming.
Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated!
