I've tried to do a carpet in the past, but with T8s, no fert routine and liquid carbon. It seems to work for some people but not for me. I've been working on this tank for about 3 years, been through a few iterations. It's finally where I want it. I've battled all the algae under the sun/lights, worms and planaria.

So, now I've finally felt like I can give a carpet a try. Bought 3 pots of eleocharis acicularis about a month ago, and now it's spreading. It's pathetic, there's maybe a dozen leaves poking out of the gravel, but I'm so excited!!!

I'm dosing TNC Lite, TNC Phosphorus and have TNC Tabs. I'm running a Finnex Planted+ 24/7 SE on auto. Have injected CO2 on a sodastream bottle. Aquamanta EFX200 filter, UV steriliser on 24/7. Circulation pump and an air stone overnight.

Congratulations! I’m currently experiencing success with a carpet of eleocharis pusilla, it’s literally flying! Give it a trim at some point to encourage stronger thicker growth...

When I tried my hand at gas I was amazed at all the plants I could suddenly grow and grow well.
I love low-energy as well, but once you're bitten by the gas bug...😉
