Uv light

Hi,
I have just installed a new Aqua One1400
UV filter which comes with a built-in uv light. Not sure whether the uv needs to stay on all the time for optimum performance or whether this is bad practice?

Probably a good idea to put it on a timer and run for a few hours a day to extend the life of the bulb.

most uv in canisters are clarifiers and cannot perform a uv sterilization function. Unless you have green water issues, agree there is little point leaving them on 24 hours a day.
