Evening everone!
Recently ive had an outbreak of GDA in my 125L which ive been takling for the past 2-3 weeks. Ive halved my output-60w down to 30w and have the photoperiod from 3 till 10 so 7 hours. Dosing EI which has recently been tweaked to acchive the reccomened ppm for each salt, previously i was dosing much higher ppm amounts. Co2 is as stable as can be always have lime DC as lights come on with slight degassing over night. Anyway lol my fluval U3 is rated at 600lph which clearly isnt close to the 10x output and was pretty poor at moving the water round which i imagine didnt help with my GDA.
Ive purchased a cheap 950lph boyu interal with spray bar which is a hell of alot stronger and provides much more movement in the tank to the point where the fish are being pushed around when in the direct line of flow at the surface.
Finally the question
It only has a small compartment for media apposed to the U3 which has 3-4x the amount. should i cram as much biorings into the boyu as poss from the U3 to help the filter embed the helpful bacteria?
I preferably would like to remove the u3 as its bulky and weak and i have a APS 700lph uv internal on its way which i will use to HOPEFULLY help with the GDA outbreak as alot of people have had good results.
