Hi everyone .
I'm starting a planted tropical fish tank soon.
Just trying to prepare everything:
For subtract want to use tropica products:
Question:
If I use tropica Substrate do I need to cape with gravel etc ? What gravel you guys advice with options?
If I use the Tropica soil do I need to cape with gravel etc ?.
Do I need to cape the Substrate with the soil ?
Want to do a long time project. Would the tropicana products needed to be replaced in near future ? Or can I just supplement the soil ?.
Any more advice will be fantastic.
Thanks very much.

Yes, whichever gravel you like the look of as long as its not too coarse which would mean the nutrients from substrate would leach into water column

no but you can do if you prefer to look of it.

Substrate needs to be capped and its fine to cap with tropical soil/soil powder.

You can supplement with root tabs. Eventually I the soil does breakdown into dirt

Thanks very much for your amazing help. Really appreciate 🙏
Mmade a huge difference...
Thanks very much

Tropica substrate needs capped, you can use Tropica soil, I’ve got a tank running with this setup. Tropica soil doesn’t require capping and can be used on its own. You can add root tabs to keep nutrition at the root level once the soil is depleted.
