Hi

I bought a bottle of Tropica Specialised and it has a residue on the bottom.

It's normal?

Doesn't sound right to me some ions have precipitated out of solution :( ,might of been stored in direct sunlight or warm place. I would take/send it back as 'Not fit for purpose' IMO

@RMartins - I never noticed this before. I just checked my (already open) bottle of Tropica Specialised. I see a tiny, tiny bit in mine, but nothing similar to what's on the picture you posted. Its possible that I might have already dispensed it into the tank though.

Today i went to the store to see other bottles and they were the same.

My bottle is new and I let it rest to take the picture.

I would like to know if other members have the same residue at the bottom or if it is really precipitation as Zeus. said.

I have a bottle of specialised and premium, not been used in a long while and both perfectly clear/residue free.

@RMartins Coincidently I just got a new 300ml bottle of Tropica specialized delivered today. This is how it looks unopened. As you can tell, if you look closely, there is a tiny, tiny bit of residue at the bottom, very similar to what I see in my already open bottle - I suppose this might be how its supposed to be - I've used this product for a long time and never noticed any excess residue.

Done for it’s reached it’s shelf life prematurely, It’s a dark/black precipitate so possibly Iron, Zinc or Manganese Oxides, usually the first to go after the Iron if somethings up with the mix either too high pH or Chelate breakdown or combination of both (I’ll not discount getting cooked in storage). You could test for what’s possibly missing and adjust dosing but it would be way easier/cheaper to source a new bottle (elsewhere).

If all the Bottles in the shop are like that then it’s a Bad batch and I doubt Tropica would let it go out the door like that, if it’s not been delivered as a bad batch and they are unaware that they are souring in date then Tropica need to be contacted to allow them to monitor quality control and be removed from the shelf and sent home (hopefully not via North Sea currents).

Like Mushrooms it’s best to keep your Ferts cool and in the dark!

:)

Tropica sent me an email. it is not a normal situation and advised me to change the bottle at the store

I went to the store to change the bottle and they were very helpful and understanding.
Some bottles were defective but there were many without the residue and I brought a new bottle.

Thank you all for your help
