It's time to start a new journal. I set this layout just to make an experiment. Having looked on details I really like it and have decided to use right layout for a new "adventure"

Nice. Are you to have a continuing scape through the two tanks.

Wood is being soaked and in a week or so I will start tying moss and glue a few anubias on it

Here is how the rock set from top view

And this new layout will take the position of the left tank

Got some time to look at pictures, I decided I would like a simple tank of various crypt species. Got the idea developed in a couple of days and set it up last Thursday

1. A handful of ada amazonia

2. Surround it by sand

3. Add a layer of sand on top

I got more parva from local farm, Thuy Moc. They're in vitro plants

Leave the plant in the tank in about an hour

Since i plant them in sand and there is less nutrient. It might take a year to form a full carpet. Let's wait and see

It is all from here and my new adventure begins

I am going to replace current nano tank after giving away my first nano a month ago. I have watched several videos in which pebbles are used as hardscape. However since then I don't see such wonderful material in NA again. I would love to try it and start thinking of new 'shallow' tank. Its size is 60x40x30cm, and fits perfectly on a stand that I have

I come visit Aqua Minh Long and order it right before local holiday. And in my surprise Manh is kind enough offering it for free. Early this week this build is complete and I can start scaping at anytime

This is my first tryout at the very first day

And at its second day. Looks similar but there are changes by cutting wood and rearranging pebbles

Emersed woods are useless and can be annoying when maintenance occurs.

Otherwise, great start, love the pebbles!

I doubt that. It is part of the tank and can be a support for emersed grow.

The owner of this tank, a hobbyist and a friend of mine, said I have good tanks but they are all the same. It's time for me to experiment new idea. And I think why not, stay in comfort zone is not bad but wouldn't "wood-outside-glass" be great?

Here is my short video of the mock 1

Review my photos and start looking at the layout again. It's time for sand and substrate. This is again a low maintenance tank, and it will have submerged and emersed grow. I haven't decided plant list atm

Step 1: Mix two types of sand (this is Manh's idea). One is light yellow, and the other is super fine white sand

Step 2: pour few cups of substrate and then cover it by a layer of sand

As it is my experiment so I set the layout by 'reversing' the technic 'Big at the front, then smaller in the back' (see the three wood arches). I also place a big pebble in the back, but make it lower than the second arch. This creates a sense of depth

A short video right after I finish the hardscape

Flood the tank. But before doing it, I use James Findley's technique to bank up the sand. I cut a white plastic plate into small pieces, and insert them into areas where sand might collapse/slide

Hi AnhBui,
could you please say something about the lighting you are using?
