this may seem like a stupid question but could EI dosing affect the TDS in my tank. I assume the answer is yes but to what extent. My tap water has a tds of around 240 but in the tank it's over 400.

Yes.

Full ei could double your tank water tds.

Ok cheers may have to reduce the dosing then to keep my discus happy

Just did a little experiment by adding to a litre of water my usual dose of macro and then micro ei, for my 200l tank The macro increased the tds by 100 and the micro increased it off the scale. ( the meter only goes up to 1000). So yeah may have to cut down my dosages.

Also looking to change the substrate to akadama so will continue to monitor
