Hi, sorry if this may sound like a stupid question but-
Would sumps work with a low-tech planted tank using liquid carbon and liquid ferts? Would a sump have any effect on the effectiveness of the liquid ferts or carbon?
I am only planning on making a small overhead sump out of a plastic trough planter pot like this one

Just big enough to hide the heater and to fit in all the media needed.
