Hi Everyone

I’m starting to gather together a stocking list for my new 200L tank. In there will be 10 Cherry Barbs and 6 Peppered Corys.

I have a sand and aqua soil substrate, that is moderately planted.

Has anyone got any suggestions on fish that would fit well?

My daughter has also mentioned she’d like some shrimp, but I’m not too if the Cherry Barbs would eat them - has anyone got any experience with this?

I have some cherry barbs and RCS and it’s fine so long as you have sufficient hiding places for the shrimp.
Thank you ☺️, I’ve just added them in, and they look to be doing well! I only got a small batch of 6 gold back cherry shrimp.

I’ve done a little list:

6x Galaxy Rasbora
6x Cardinal Tetra
There was a type of pencil fish which are really interactive with each other, but I can’t remember their name.

And these stunning emerald coloured fish (but I don’t have an ID - and I’m terrible at photography):

A couple of questions:

Do you think these will look out of place with the Corys and Barbs (they’re really small in comparison)?

Can anyone see any compatibility issues?

Any particular order of adding (likely to be added in batches of 6 over the next 6 months)?

Really difficult to tell from the photo but could possibly be Neon Green Rasbora Microdevario kubotai (Microrasbora kubotai) — Seriously Fish ?
Can't see any compatibility issues, but Tetras, Corys, pencilfish (NG Rasboras?) and the Barbs would more likely prefer an acidic environment, whereas the Galaxy Rasboras harder water. I think I can see a Khuli in there aswell.
Personally though, I would increase the number of fewer species, I've just made the exact same mistake when I went all giddy at the Water Zoo after spotting 18 Rasbora Rubrodorsallis, the aesthetic now with the original Rasbora Espei and Sundadanio Axelrodi has become chaotic, it's obviously your choice though.
Cheers!

That’s the one, thank you 😊.

Ah, that’s a picture from the LFS, when we went to browse what was available.

This is good advice, thank you! I don’t want chaos 😊, and you’re right, 6 species might detract away from what I’m trying to achieve.

I think some of the fish above like to form nice schools, so it’s likely we’ll go for a bigger group Cardinal Tetra.
