Soaking Manzanita Wood

Does Manzanita wood need to be soaked prior to 'scaping? I'm about to use it for the first time on my new tank. If so, does anybody have any idea how long for?

Yes it needs soaking,usually a couple of days.....for small pieces.

O always just dropped it on the tank and on a day it sinks. It does not leach either.
