Does anyone have any advice on selecting and preparing your own bogwood? I live near some gravel pits where there are all sorts of interesting pieces which have been submerged for years and it crossed my mind that I could use some of this. My understanding is that hard wood is preferable (if identifiable) and it needs to be free of bark, sap, bugs etc. I've cleaned pieces of bogwood in the dishwasher at 70oC before now to help remove tannins (no detergent) so I guess this could also be part of the process. Anyhow - appreciate any advice, wisdom, thanks.
