Hi,
I am going to setup my new 75P tank. I was planning on seeding the new filter with some of the foam from my existing 60P filter. I was also going to re-use some of my existing plants. My existing tank has always suffered some BBA, but it’s under control.
A conversation earlier this week, made me think twice about this. I could start totally afresh, without seeding the tank or reusing plants, then my new tank will run perhaps differently, and you are not transferring the risk across of bringing in algae. Well it would be nice to not bring across BBA. So what’s people’s thoughts on this? Is it inevitable that BBA spores will eventually make it across to the new tank anyway at some point if the conditions are right? Or is it not worth the risk.
Has anyone here tried this out before? Did it make a difference?
thank you
Keith
Ps I am planning on using dark start method on this setup. Simply to reduce water changes at the beginning, and I’m in no rush.
