School me on substrates

Hi All,

I've been out of the game for a while now and have fallen out of touch with the latest products, advice etc.
I'm starting a new cube geared towards crystal shrimp and was wondering what the best/recommended substrates currently are. I'm planning on low tech mainly mosses and anubis with a bit of emergent growth.

There are special shrimp substrates, but i think crystals are hardy and could do with regular sand. Anubias and mosses will be on the wood i guess , so a thin layer would be fine.
