Hi.

I recently purchased some, what I beleieve to be rotala rotundifolia or similar. It is doing rather poorly in my tank after 2 months and I wondered if anyone could suggest a solution please?
Problem: slow to zero growth, leaves disintegrating
Tank: 7 hrs light, EI ferts, easycarbo daily, heavy planting.

Thanks in advance,
Marcus.

Welcome to the ukaps crew.
If you purchased your Rotala from the local fish store...these will probably be in the emersed state.
Therefore the plant will take time to transform into its submerged stage....smaller longer leaves.
There is probably a lack of flow around the plants inhibiting growth...Rotalas do better with injected Co2.
I would thin out the dense areas, remove the tops of the best stems and replant....do 50% water changes per week if you can.
Do you have livestock and other plants?
A few photographs would be of assistance...for further investigation.

Hi hoggie.

I can't get any photos at the minute. I will add some when I'm home on my computer. I have java fern, moss and Indian water weed which are all growing well, plus some type of hygrophila which is not doing well, like the rotala. i have glowlight teetra and cherry shrimp in the tank as well. I added a powerhead to increase circulation as well.

Cheers, Marcus

how do i add pictures without photobucket etc? i want to upload them from my computer direct.

cheers, Marcus

It only takes 2 minute to set an account up though. I thought it was quite annoying at first but you soon get used to it.

Don't worry, you don't get any spam or anything from photobucket. I maybe get 1 email per week.
