Quick project. Turned up totally unexpected. Said to myself some time ago to not go back to nanos
but could not resist this time with a quick idea of this one. Decided to keep it simple and with minimum maintenance.

So this will be my first low-tech tank with low light and no co2

About setup:
Tank: Fluval Spec 19v (19L)
Light & Filtration: Original
Heating: The one from my shed

about 7KG of Seriyu Rock
about .5kg of ADA and 1kg some cheap natural gravel

Fish: HMPK betta
Inverts: about 7 Horned Nerirte snails

Plants:
Elecharis Aciculris mini & Alternanthera reneckii mini

Ferts: EL Profito
Carbon source: EL EasyCarbo

Water: RO + JBL Aquadur

less rocks/wood, less substrate, less plants, smaller filters, smaller light units, tanks are cheaper, yeah pretty much everything about it is cheaper.
Co2 regulator if you are going to use one costs the same obviously, as does bubble counters, valves and diffusers aren't that much different - so that part costs the same I suppose.

Bit like with smaller cars right? Usually a lot cheaper and if you find the right small car it can be a whole lotta fun. I'll never give up my two and a half ton gas guzzler coupe though.

thanks guys.

yep..
less to spend on rocks, nearly nothing on gravel, inexpensive light and filtration. for this project only two small portions of plants purchased. everything else from my shed and attic. larger projects = more investment.

I know it's still early days, but how is the tank settling in Lauris? Do you think the light is bright enough?

Really like your scape.

Great scape. Very small tank and brilliant effect
What is a progress? ;)

This has motivated me to consider getting a Spec - wonderful scape!!!

Any update?
(though of course low light/non CO2 does mean rather slower growth)
