Moss is hard to come by in Canada import bans whatever..
I had some flame and java shipped from China it finely arrived 4 weeks later 🙂

The java dosnt look too bad but the flame moss which I really wanted is quite brown with a touch of green.
How do i bring it back or can it be brought back?

You could try to put a thin layer sphagnum moss on a plate or some plastic lid, press firmly an place the moss (Java and/or Flame moss) on top. Cover it with some clingfilm for 95% and spray every day to keep it moist, not wet.
Even without sphagnum it should work if the moss is not to far gone, but if you don't have sphagnum, I would use some clay instead.

thats what im hoping i pulled a few greenish flame strands and attached it to a branch.
Fingers crossed

I'll give that a try as well thanks Martin.

I was recently told by my LFS that blending the moss in a food mixer and pushing it into wood/mesh/netting is great to get new growth.
Haven't tried this yet, not sure if this is a known fact.

I heard something similar but for propagating land moss you do the same but add butter milk and paint it on ?

I did it with Java moss for an emersed setup and it works. No need to be mixed with milk, just water and moss. Some experts on terrestrial moss say that it makes no good... Not sure, never tried. Nevertheless I tried in the same wood the classic method (attaching moss with a string) and the results were exactly the same. This wood was some time in the emersed setup and now is filling my nano tank.
