Replanting Monte Carlo

In my shrimp tank I have some Monte Carlo which has done surprisingly well. I however got a little filamentous algae in there (think this was when there was only snails in the tank and I did some reacaping) and it has become a bit of a pain.

Now the Monte Carlo is all lifting and floating off. I cannot even beging to figure out how I planted it in the first place as the grain size of the Tropica soil is pretty big. Every time I attempt to replant one but it just uproots another...

Thinking I should either just pull it all out and start again with a new pot or remove the bits that show a little bit of algae and then dump some new substrate on top to bury it.

Suggestions?

Sounds like it about to all come up to me. Happen to me when I did a blackout and ended up in hospital in intensive care, week blackout turned into about 18 day blackout. The MC all started coming up.
So lifted it all. Removed detritus from substrate, trimmed out some healthy bits of MC and replanted it. Soon filled in and was good. I survived and so did the carpet after replanting 😉
