raised area

hi,im planing a planted tank and would like a slope or raised area.
my tank is a rio 240, and i have brought 4 bags of eco complete, on the packet it says not to mix.can i make my slope out of sand and put eco on top,or is there another way or material for slopes or raised areas.
advice would be welcome.

I dont see why now. I also dont see why you cant mix it. The advice on the packet is prob just to get you to buy more!
