Questions about hardscape ( not sure if this is the right post area)

Hi guys,

Again, before I start, not sure if this is the right post area but not sure where else to put it).

I have a really quick question, I put a lot of oak branches in a water butt around 3 months ago, maybe longer and now want to put them in my established aquarium to see how they look.

Considering they have been in the water from a water butt for 3 months am I ok to add it straight to the tank?
Will this affect anything? If so how do I make it tank 'stable'?

They'll be fine, just rinse them with fresh water and don't let them dry out else they'll become un-waterlogged (for want of a better word).

Usually with wood, I've found that after the first week or 2, I'll start to see a white slime appear all over the wood. This will disappear on it's own, manual removal and water changes will help.
