PVC Tubing/Hose has strong odour. Need alternative.

I just purchased some PVC clear hose for use with my DIY water change system. It was advertised as suitable for aquarium use but has a very strong unpleasant smell. I notice the hose supplied with my cannister filters does not suffer from this so I assume there exists a more suitable alternative material. Can anyone enlighten me please. My preferred size is 19mm OD 16mmID and ideally clear but at least translucent.

My new hose is the same. Sold as food grade, but has a really strong smell. Hoping it wears off, but not going to use it for now.

Hi Natalie, did you use the hose tubing for water changes? How lond was it? Did you find it a bit too stiff and really hard to straighten up?
