Pump and Filter Requirements

Hi

I'm just having a pond in my garden renovated.

I need to pump the water 16m to a height of 1.8m to feed a waterfall.

Does anyone have any suggestions regarding the type and size of pump I would need?

Ideally, I would like to be able to control the flow.

I'm not planning on having any fish but I do get a lot of leaves and pine needles in autumn and I was wondering whether I will need a filter?

Somebody I know mentioned using bacteria to help break down the leaves etc. Is this an option

Opinions/suggestions would be much appreciated!!

Bacteria will be present in the pond whether you want it or not, and yes, they will break down leaves. That’s nature.
