I've searched the forum but couldn't find a specific mention of how to prune one of these plants. My one currently has lots of growth near the top but very little lower down. Being very new and inexperienced with plants I'm not sure how best to go about trimming it and making the plant spread out a bit.

Hi Kayne
Welcome to the ukaps crew.
  1. You can cut away some of the growth from the surface and replant it in the substrate.
  2. You can remove the older lower section and bin it......or be brutal and cut it down to the first leaf node above the gravel/substrate to prompt lower growth...chop up the remainder and replant.

Thanks for the tips and for the welcome

Followed your advice and cut away the sections that had no leaves left and binned. Also spread the remaining bits out a bit more to give more of an illusion of being bigger.
