Powerhead placement...

I was getting an issue with detritus building up beneath the outflow (area in red), so (after some research and recommendations on here) I purchased the AI Nero 3 to try to improve things near substrate level and hopefully keep future detritus from settling. I am also hoping for better growth from my Liliopsis and Crypts lower down.

My question is where I might be best off placing it in my tank. My out and in flow are on the right of the picture, with the outflow at the back of the tank and the inlet near the front.

Do I go with the flow or against it? High in the water column or low? Do people run theirs constantly or on timers?

Hi,
I'm not trying to be pedantic here but for the sake of clarification inlet and outlet usually refer to the filter.
I would initially try placing it under the Lily Pipe (outlet) fairly close to the substrate complementing the circular flow you already have existing in your tank. Alternatively you could place it in the back left corner pointing across the back towards the inlet (still adhering to your circular flow) with the benefit that it will be largely hidden behind those Swordplants, but there may well be not enough room back there.
You don't need to plug the Nero into a timer as it has one already built in but for reference I run mine at 15% from half hour before CO2 comes on until half hour after the CO2 has shut off and then run it at 1% for the remainder of the time (on a 900x550x530 tank).
If you have not installed it yet just beware when you first plug it in it may run at full speed and blow your substrate away, if I remember correctly I placed mine in the kitchen sink while initially programming it.
Ultimately though, you can try different positions in tank and find what works best for your system, you can use a small amount of fish food to track your flow pattern or find any dead spots and I'm sure your fish won't mind too much about that.
Hope this helps as a starter.
Cheers!
