Hi
Used to use Aquarium plant food suppliers, they have gone so went to Aqua Plants Care now, i have fonally run lit of my chelated mix and found that Aqua Plants Care are charging a crazy amount of money for the chelated mix, i mean ridiculous, the rest of the products are good price just the chelated, i just like to have it ready mixed, simple, so insaw thread about solufeed sodium free tec which is £22 a kg, yes i want it, may last a few years, just wondering if the copper contebt is fine for shrimp
ElementSoluble in water (%)Chelated by EDTA (% min)
Boron(as polyborate)0.92N/a
Copper(as CuNH4EDTA)0.230.23
Iron(as FeKEDTA)8.278.27
Manganese(as Mn2KEDTA)2.002.00
Molybdemum(as molybdate)0.15N/a
Zinc(as Zn2KEDTA)1.161.16
Nothing too technical please i am a simple man with this ha

It would depend upon how much you dilute it. I am using the Solufeed Na-free TEC, I put the results into the <IFC Calculator> and compared that against my old <toxicity notes>. It came out at 0.002 ppm which seemed unlikely to effect even sensitive "model" organisms like Gammarus - so shrimp should be fine. Now sometimes a few other factors can come into play - I have done some work on private water supplies that I seem to remember a couple had very elevated copper levels, but in Somerset your tapwater should be reasonably okay. Also, the assumption is that you would do weekly 50% water changes and that you are not introducing additional copper, although it is simple enough to take this into account when you dose. So go ahead and order!
