Posting plants from the UK to Rep. Of Ireland

Hi Guys,
I have some Java Ferns in my uni tank that i want to post back home.
How should I go about doing this so that they won't die or be severely damaged when they arrive?

Ive some a bit of research on this as i wanted to import some plants

Thanks for the info Sussex_cichlids but I obviously wasnt clear enough in my description, I've just re-read it now!

I want to post a Java Fern from my place here in Suffolk, back to Dublin.

Its an EU country so do the same rules apply ? .
Also, I was looking for info on how to package it correctly.
