I had a clump of these from last year. They went through a melting phase before settling down and growing pretty lush in my hospital tank. The fauna was then shifted back to the main tank and these poor plants left in darkness without water changes for many weeks.

I've recently started to use this tank again and can see that they're making a comeback with new leaves on the lower portions of their stems.

They have roots along their stems too and seem to propagate by sending out new plants along their stems.

What are they?

Allmost 100% sure this is Hygrophila, looks and growth description fits perfect - there are several species with long, narrow leaves. The compact growth can be genetic or caused by the environment.

Not sure whether I fall under the environment category but it's definitely my fault for neglecting them.
