Hi everyone I have decided to put some plants in sand in my aquascape, I was originally just putting them on wood and rock but Ive had a change of mind. I no nothing about which plants to get or where to put them, Here is a couple of photo's of where I am at the min with the plants I have, some of these can be moved around. Any help choosing plants and where to put them will be appreciated. Thanks 🙂

If you donot have a planting substrate under the inert sand, the Tropica capsules are perfect.

Also dose decent daily fertiliser into water column.

Ps. Are you using co2? I can’t recall. Either way think about a full length spray bar. Will give you much more even flow.

Yes mate Im using liquid Co2 daily at the min but will be getting the pro series Co2 kit from Co2 art next week and a Co2 fire extinguisher with inline atomizer. 🙂

Do think about flow. At thmoment filter outlet and wavemaker (I assume that is a wave-maker on the right, not too sure) are fighting against each other.

Full length spray bar will give a good result with even flow.

They are both filters mate, I can swap one round so both are going the same way if that improves flow?

Yes you want flow all going same way or creating a circular motion is better with 2 filters.

Check out George farmer on you tube, he recently did a good video on flow, that will explain what I’m getting at.

Ok thanks mate Ill try find it. 🙂

Unable to find the George Farmer video on flow, The filter on the right hand side has 2 flow heads one of them is pointed towards the bottom left corner of the tank at the front, the other at the right hand side to the upper front. The left filter is pointing to the upper right hand side to the front. Don't know if Ive got that right?

Got the flow sorted mate, swapped the intake and output around like you suggested, its much better now. I just need some plant suggestions, I was thinking crypts and something with a bit of colour, could probably do with some fast growing plants to help with algae. 🙂

Tommy make sure you dont put any plants like Java Fern,in substrate they need to rhizone in water column. Some fast growers Vallis or hyg.polyperma?
