pH meter vs liquid indicator

I bought my first pH meter. I have been using API pH test kits, both high and low range, and was unhappy with the color resolution. So I anticipated my pH meter to do a better job, but not really.

I calibrated the pH meter with standard fluids provided. I am wondering why there is only one adjustment screw to calibrate with two standards (pH 4 and 6.86). If the meter matches the pH 4, it won't match the pH 6.86, and vice versa so I have to adjust the screw back and forth. Should I just choose one standard over the other as I can't get matching for both?

When I compare the pH meter readings with my API liquid test results, I anticipated the pH meter to be more accurate, but not really depending on the circumstances.

Before I turned on the CO2, the pH meter readings match perfectly with my API test kits within my color vision resolution ability. But once the CO2 is on, the pH meter reads 0.1 to 0.4 pH higher than the API test kits, I trust the API test results more than the pH meter, because at lower pH range, the API color chart has pretty good resolution.

Why is it? Is it because the liquid test kit can pick up both free and dissolved CO2 whereas the pH meter can only sense dissolved CO2?

Which pH meter have you got?
My pH controller has two screws for calibrating with the buffers whilst both my pH pens auto calibrate once the buffer range is detected. Two point calibration is best OFC. After calibrating I rinse the probe and check in the solutions again. My pH controller needs several tweaks and redips in buffer till it's right but pH pen normally good after one two point calibration.
