I noticed that pest snails have formed a colony inside the intake hose tube of my canister filter Eheim Classic 250. I am trying to figure out how the hell they surpassed the pre-filter sponge and got inside. Though my filter has started clogging yet. But do you think these snails can create problem as long as they are inside the hose tube?

Eggs probably get sucked up and then hatch inside filter.

I’d have thought the only thing to watch is that they don’t restrict the flow of the filter if they’re in the pipework. If they’re a bother, clean the filter and then feed less. Snail populations increase and decrease in proportion to food availability. Yes, they’re good as clean up crew, but you don’t want to have so much excess food that the population explodes.
