Hello my beautiful fellow tank friends! 🥰
We are gathered here today... No, not for the wedding, but for the journey of the family's first "large" tank.
This is our beloved 345L community tank. It will have all the plants, rock and bogwood, it's going to be marvellous.
If only the bogwood would stay glued and the lava rock would stop floating.... 🙄
It's probably going to be somewhat of a bumpy journey!

Week 1.

So, we decided to have granulated substrate instead of just normal soil. Which is great, you don't even need to put sand on top!
We went for brown because... no reason at all, we just felt like keeping it light.
The soil is a grey colour, in the shop it looked really nice, and would fit well with the red lava rock, plants, and two large pieces of bogwood we found.

BEHOLD the...well, the scape as it might be. It's still a bit of a WIP, but it's getting there! 🥹
We are after all, quite new to this, and have never actually scaped something properly before, just kinda randomly placed things in the other 3 tanks.
This tank is quite large compared to our other 100L tanks, and the fact that I can't even reach down into the tank is for me a problem, though it causes the hubby to have funny moments as he's 6,5 and has no issues. 😏
Now we need to glue things together...which...is so far not going well....

Week 2.

Everything the light touches...is your kingdom... - he said.

He should also have mentioned that glueing things is hard..., the sand looks nothing like it did at the shop, it's messy, and you completely forgot to do some important steps in this journey that you were VERY clear on doing.
Like...
1. Washing the lavarock before use....
2. Hosing down the bogwood....
3. WASHING THE LAVAROCK BEFORE USE

Buuuut what is aquascaping without its mistakes, right? It'll be fine. Nothing is going to go wrong, we've got this! 😎

Wrong, see this picture above me? See the quality? It's my brain overcooking. The LAVAROCK IS FLOATING... sigh.
And I completely suck at gluing. I followed all the steps! Take glue, take cotton, stick it in between, soak in glue, hold, release - wolla.
But nope... YouTube is lying, glueing shait together is NOT as easy as it looks, and we are back to the drawing board again.
How to make Lavarock not float, I could glue it to another piece,e I suppose...but what if that piece ALSO then floats??! 😫
And why is my beautiful 3rd piece of bogwood also a floater...
It seems I need some smaller rocks to anchor this to that I can hide under the sand.
Maybe? That might work...
I also now have substrate here and there on top of the sand after moving the shait around...sigh.
WTB growth formula for human...

Maybe next week will be better!! 😳🥶
