otocinclus army vs GDA?

I've read Tom's post about introducing a substantial number of bristlenose plecos to combat GDA. I was wondering if the same can be done using otocinclus? Of course, it'll be 3-4x the amount of otos compared to the amount of bristlenose in Tom's experiment. Is there something special about the bristlenose pleco that makes it superior to otos in terms of eating GDA? Thanks!
 
GDA = too much light. It doesn't matter how many plecos or ottos you introduce to the tank, you will never get rid of GDA without adjusting the light or manually removing it.
