oh where do i begin?

hi all, im new to this aquascaping hobby. i am planning to make some purchases of equipment but im very bewilded by the huge array of choice. my chosen aquarium is:
60x30x36 opti white. my chosen filter is Eheim thermo 2128.
so, this is where it gets confusing. i need to choose lily pipes and co2 glasswear (diffuser and bubble counter) for this set up and need some advice for which ones to go for. my budget is medium level. also, which size clear tubing do i need for the lily pipes/filter connections?

just do some reserch on ebay if You need any glassware I bought all tings from far east good prices but with this You need to know that on top of shipping cost of customs if you are unlucky
 
That filter comes with 16/22mm hoses so you will need to buy glassware accordingly. This are probably the cheapest you going to find: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Aquarium-Inflow-O ... 25580dfebf but how good they are I can't say, never used lilly pipes.

Some of our sponsors sell some great glassware, specially TGM but at a greater price, but most likely will work better than the cheap stuff off ebay, again I haven't used either!

Refills are expensive! you can get a 2kg FE for the price of a 95g refill 😛 and that would last you 7-8 months, rather than 3-4 weeks. For the price of that anyway you can get a regulator and solenoid off ebay!

Firstly, nice choices on the tank and filter.

If you want glassware you will need 17mm lily pipes (filter inlet and outlet) and 17mm hose. Prices range from around 30 quid from ebay for a set.

If you are willing to spend more then The Green Machine (a sponsor of UKAPS) supply ADA and Cal Aqua 17mm sets.

You may also wish to buy a cleaning brush suitable to 17mm hose. I use a JBL Cleany.

I can recommend a glass/ceramic diffuser. I have had good results with the Rhinox 1000 or similar.

Any bubble counter will do. You can hide the bigger types in the cabinet (I do this) or have a pretty glass type next to the tank. The glass types are very delicate, by the way. I must have broken about five!

Before I forget, can someone also recommend a good easy to follow book for a begginer to the hobby, cheers. Do you have any books out Mr George Farmer?
 
I'm just starting out and have found the info and articles on this site great. I got a cheap copy of The 101 best aquarium plants from eBay when I decided to add plants to my tanks for reference but I tend to refer to the catalogue from the plants alive website more as it has photos and descriptions of all their plants including temp range, size etc

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be too many books on the market here in the UK for the planted tank enthusiast.
But hey, you're already in the best place for info. on the planted tank IMO.
Alas, I'm still waiting for Mr Farmers' book too :lol:
