I just purchased the new style inline CO2 diffuser shown (1st picture). I replaced the Quanvee M2 atomizer (2nd picture) with the new style atomizer. I was unable to get the new unit to work so I swapped my new unit with my old unit. According to the Chinese manufacturer, the new style has not been problematic with previous buyers. Does anyone have the new type currently running on a tank? Any pictures/videos would be appreciated.

Best regards,

Stuart

Is the new one from Quanvee as well? Might help to name the manufacturer to help others answer your question.

To me it looks like a bubble counter, not CO2 diffuser - I can’t see a diffusion membrane.

Hello GH Nelson and hypnogogia.

Thank you for the replies. You can see the atomizer membrane in the picture below.
IMG_8342.jpegThis is a new type of atomizer made by the ZRDR Outlet Store on AliExpress. I dialed the working pressure up to 33 PSI and no bubbles came out. I also soaked the diffuser for 72 hours before hooking it up (the manufacturer suggests a 24-48 hour soak). My impression is that the check valve is faulty where the CO2 line connects in the picture. I’ve never used this type of diffuser before.

Best regards,

Stuart

Perhaps a silly question, how far did you insert the tubing into the quick release? Does the tubing have any indents or scuffs after removing?

I made sure the tubing was inserted all the way in. I repeated the process several times and still could not get any flow through the atomizer line.

Best regards,

Stuart

Hi Mate
I would open up the 6mm push-fit connector if you can and remove the inside.
Try running it in a bucket of water before attaching it to the tubing/hoses.
Failing that it might need about 2.5/3 bar working pressure to run?

I wish I knew how to do that 😔. The connector is a a smooth surface and I don’t have specialty tools. 2.5-3 bar is a lot of pressure (36-43 PSI). I hooked up the line to the open atomizer and had no flow through the diffuser head under the water. I’m not sure if I want to crank up my pressure that much 😳!

Respectfully,

Stuart

I use 40PSI on both my inline diffusers, isn’t 30-40PSI the usual rate for inline?

I usually max at around 30 PSI (currently around 25) and have been using the Quanvee unit for years. I know when I went up to 33 PSI, and had no flow, I disconnected the atomizer and my bubble count exploded (inside the counter) and the mineral oil got into the line past the bubble counter (I use mineral oil to stop the fluid from evaporating). I’m getting a little gun shy with this new counter.

Stuart

Hi
I run my, in the aquarium Dennerle CO2 Diffuser at 2.5 bar.

Which type of Bubble Counter?
Try running it without the bubble counter....as some of those have non-return valves inside them.
Contact the seller/manufacturer for information on the working PSI Rate.

This is my current setup. I tried to put the new atomizer where the current one is. As you can see, I am currently running my old atomizer at 30 PSI.

Best regards,

Stuart

Hello GH Nelson.

No, I only have the old Quanvee atomizer on my tank now.

I was hoping the new atomizer would have a finer dispersion 😔.

Best regards,

Stuart

Have you tried running without it attached to the hose and bubble counter?
Take it apart.....run it, if there is no CO2 coming out from the pushfit into the body.....then you will know it's faulty.
Remove the ceramic white diffuser part.

I was able to remove the push fit connector, reset the spring and the rubber flap, re-attach the fitting and still no CO2 through the valve even at 40 PSI.

Now here’s the kicker, I was able to blow through the mechanism without the spring and valve in place and also through the push fit connector on its own. As soon as I put the safety valve back into the fitting, and reassemble, it’s a no go.

I’m beginning to think this is a manufacturer’s defect.

Thanks for everyone’s insight with this task. I’ve reached out to the manufacturer regarding their suggested working pressure and have heard nothing further from them (they suggested a picture of my installation to see if I hooked it up correctly as well which I provided). I know it’s Lunar New Year there and is possibly causing a delay. I guess I’ll wait and see…….

Best regards,

Stuart

Hi Stuart
I would remove those pieces....and reassemble the diffuser.
Try running it again.
I had a bubble counter with the same kind of inner non-return spring/rubber piece....that didn't work either.
It is a poor design.

I will try that GH. This makes sense now. The old atomizers don’t have check valve on them so why keep it!

Thank you!

Best regards,

Stuart
