Hi
ive decided to try again with the planted tank, I have two tanks I can set up. one being a aqua40 and another the record 60 I think! anyways... didn't have much luck last time. just back from the LFS with some tropica plant substrate 2 litres and looking for a LED light for the aqua40 which is 40cm m3. Was looking at the arcadia stretch would I need 2, I have the kit LED but don't think that's much cop.

ps...forgot to mention, I don't want to grow anything hard just easy growing plants and give them a chance so a list would be good too

thanks....

Hi Steven, I have the aqua nano 40.

I have been using tropica aquarium soil and there ferts. I Have soft water, as a result my Echinodours aquatic isn't doing that well.

Im planning to start again, I read a book called ecology of planted aquarium - diana walstad, id recommend a red if your looking for a natural looking tank.

Anyways The light is doing just fine for me,

Im growing Hygrophila polysperma, hydroctyle tripatita, echinodours tenellus, spikes moss and echinodorus aquartica.

Ive had the tank for 6 months and my only complaint is that the power head has nothing to stop snails getting stuck in so every now and again it makes a terrible noise for a while then shoots a snail out ha

hi Dan thanks for the reply.

yes I did well with the hygrophila polysperma too although it did start to stretch abit im no plant expert so will have a look at the others you mentioned and give them a bash.

I did buy and try reading that book, I downloaded it when I started but I lost interest in it very quick unfortunately. Think it was to scientific for my brain to follow.....🙁 will give it another go maybe...
did you not get a spray bar with your set up? I did which seems to stop the snails.

no spray bar, yeah that book can't get a bit too in-depth but helps you understand the science.

if you want to hygro to grow more bushy, google fimming. its a technique used by cannabis growers haha, it works really well on hydro.

if you look to the right at the small hygro thats been fimmed, if you look at the far left that hasn't been fimmed.
