Hey guys, I have not posted for a long while. Having had fish for two years now, I have learnt a bit and realised what I like/ don't like.

I currently have a 70 litre aquarium, with an external filter, and if I am honest it looks very messy and I want to switch to an 'all in one' aquarium.

I enjoy fish keeping but am pretty amateur and not looking for something high maintenance or complicated, just want to have a nice looking tank that does what it says on the tin and is suitable for my stock.

I currently have

  • 3 cory (I know they need to be in a larger group, and I will look to get another 3 one I sort the tank situation out!)
  • 1 male guppy - I had 7 but the other 6 died at varying points, not entirely sure why, have not had any fish deaths for months now, potentially my mollies?
  • about 6 adult molly and some fry, I do not want to keep molly any longer as they breed so often I am constantly having to take fish back to my LFS to keep tank stock within limits.
  • shrimps and snails (so many snails!!)

I have been using AqAdvisor to check and I think I will probably look at getting a few more cory, and perhaps some tetra/ raspboras/ killifish (obviously will check all compatibility before doing so).

I am looking at three tanks, all a similar price and wanted input on which to go for, or if ultimately, for someone like me, any of them would be suitable.

The tanks I am looking at:

- fluval roma 125

- juwel rio 125

- aquaone nano 80 - (130)

The aquaone specifically appeals due to the fact the filter and heater are hidden which I think is aesthetically more pleasing, along with the seamless edges, but the juwel rio and fluval seem more common?

Just wondered what people would recommend/ if anyone has any other suggests for a tank under the £300 mark, all in one (filter included), volume between 100 - 130l, ideally filter intergrated/ hidden, and I tend to prefer longer profile aquariums?

Lastly, in regards to my Molly and Guppy, is it ethical to keep a single male guppy and a single male molly in a community tank? If not I either need to get a few more guppy, or return him to the LFS, and I ask regarding the Molly as there is one I have had for 2 years since he was a fry and would love to keep him, but really not sure I want to keep livebearers longterm!

If you've read to the end, thank you for sticking with me!

I wouldn’t say the Fluval is a true AIO aquarium. It comes with an internal U3 filter. Similarly, the Juwel has a glued in filter back right hand corner. This can accommodate a heater, so it is tidier than the Fluval. The Aqua one has a built in sump at the back - a true AIO. You can pop a heater into it, as well as (if you ever want to) co2 diffuser. Nothing is visible in the tank and all equipment remains hidden.

Personally I like the fluval flex 32g. They cost silly money new but i see them second hand often for £100-150 on facebook market and gumtree.

Thank you both!

I am not a big fan of the fluvial flex, I don't like the curved glass for some reason!

The Fluval Roma comes with the u3 internal filter but as you say, it's not 'built in'.

The Jewel I like the way the heater fits into the filter, although the filter is in the corner and visible.

The aqua one is probably my favourite in terms of the built in sump and hidden features, but it is also the most expensive! Argh

I get that, it will distort what you see.

Juwel tanks are very good, and the filter works well. It’s a good compromise if you want an AIO. Filter is easy to maintain as well.

Thats fab.

I think I am weighing up between the juwel rio, superfish home 110 and the aquanano 80. Will decide soon, I hope!

The aquanano is really nice but I have never bought a big tank new myself I always got them second hand. I could not find much on the light for it. I hate when they do not post specs but most probably do not worry about it.

I have a juwel lido 200 and it's an excellent tank. The lights are incredibly bright, so be aware of that - can be perfect for your needs or a bit intense.

I love tetras and rasboras, so I'm keen on them! Killifish are also very beautiful although they can jump. Worth bearing in mind, but if you lower the water level and/or have a tight fitting lid (like the juwel) you should be ok.
I'm not entirely sure on the other livestock questions, sorry

I think the Juwel tanks are okay for what they are, but I really dislike not being able to dim the lights properly. They are algae factories with the weak-ish pump and strong lights.

weak-ish pump
It has been a while since I had full system from Juwel, but I found the tanks easy/balanced/well designed, though hardly beautiful. Tried a filter as a separate add-on, a few years ago, and found it under-powered so you may well be on to something, lighting is not easy to say for definite, with CO2 injection I think the systems are probably about right for all but the most light demanding plants. Though I am a high light plant man, the equatorial sun is not a weak phenomenon and even here in the British Isles, on a summer day light can be very intense.
