I wanted to make a short intro, although many know me from marine forums.

I've been keeping aquariums for some 45 years (yeah, I'm getting grey, like a moonlight gourami), but have spent the last 20 years specialising in marines. Well, it is time to set-up a freshwater, again, now that I have the space and wanted to get back into the flow of fresh and sweet.

As you can tell from my moniker, I work for Vertex Aquaristik, but hope you will simply accept me as an aquarist. Of course, if you have questions, mail me privately, but on this forum I am hoping to just be another avid member.

Looking foreward...

Jamie

Hi Jamie, welcome to the forum, sorry if I don't recognise your name!
There are lot of marine keepers who join us on this forum, a lot try to utilise their existing equipment but it does not always work out for them.
Likewise we have a few old timers around here too - including me, although I have only been keeping fish for about 40 years.
Looking forward to seeing what your plans are going to be....

Thanks for the welcome!

I'm currently torn between doing a tranquil landscape and setting up a biotope for breeding something specific. I think I need the tranquility. maybe something inbetween.

cheers,
J.

Oooh ooooh. Bioptope! Nice! What are you thinking about?

Well, I saw some spectacular altum pteropyllums and went into a deep dream. Unfortunately, the next tank had some extra ordinary rainbow fish from a few genera and then there are all these new danios coming to the market.. Do I want something river-like or something gentle and still. I think I need to look at plants more closely one way or the other. Since my last freshwater tank the variety has simply exploded.

I'm in no rush and ideas are always welcome. I'll be setting up a freshwater system in the office, as well, so i may get the best of both. It pretty cool to be a profi aquarist. All those goodies on the shelf.

J.
