Hi people I'm from Cannock staffs in my Autumn years been keeping fish for best part of 45 years that doesn't make me an expert we learn something new every day
Anyway I've gone through most freshwater tropical over the years until approximately 15years ago i discovered marine the salty side I'm at present keeping a 800ltr 6x2x2 custom mixed reef with some success that basically looks after itself now
Ok the one part of the hobby I've never done is a planted tank so before i get past it i wanted to crack this so a few months ago i purchased old stock but new fluval f60 tank and set it up fully planted i could not believe how this tank has filled out with growth giving me the bug oh no not again!
Anyway this will be my last venture on a bit of a budget because the reef ain't cheap to run I'm going to setup a 2.5m x 450mm x450mm rimless planted tank low tech I've had the base made in fabricated aluminum and the custom tank is being made as we speak i will light this with 4 floodlights on goose necks i will filter it with 2 2000efk canister filter twin heaters through a temp controller and probably dose automatically any way more to follow and i will set up a journal20180625_181431_HDR.jpg this is the base still have the uprights to put in after its set up because i want to put in a water change tank talk soon

Good luck mate.

What I'm finding with planted tanks (only been doing it for 9 months) is that as long as you are willing to get in the tank, remove waste and sort your water out, you can't go wrong and there will only be slight things that need adjusting. I could be well off the mark for some of the long term fish/plant keepers on here but that's my observation so far.
