Hi I’m Cris (CJM70) from Brighton. Well, Saltdean, but nobody other than locals have heard of Saltdean 😂.
Middle aged guy with too much time on my hands, so decided to revisit this hobby in the hope my wallet isn’t drained like it was last time, lol. I’m hoping to stick with low tech, having seen how well some youtubers have managed without CO2. If you see me asking CO2 questions, please remind me if this post 👍😎. Anyway, without further ado, I’m off to check out the cool tanks on here.

I used to be on the fire extinguishers but i'm about 7 years clean now, all about low tech tanks, it's really a lot softer on the wallet.
Nice to see another member from the south east.
Welcome to UKAPS.

Welcome from just along the coast at Poohaven! I too drifted into the dark side and tried CO2 - never had so many problems with algae! Crypts do well in our liquid rock water, as do cherry shrimp =)

Thanks Jacque. Where are the decent aquatic retailers in this area? Seems very sparse.

Thanks to all the others who said welcome. Looking forward to seeing your setups 👍

Hi Jacque, thanks for the info. How does the MA in Hickstead compare to the Brighton marina for fish? Was thinking of a trip there too. Also I’ve read about some places up near Crawley/Horsham?
I have been watching a lot of MD fish tanks channel videos on YouTube and his local Maidenhead Aquatics in Taunton seem to have a really lovely selection of everything. It’s just a shame they can’t all be as diverse.

I havent been to the Hickstead one for years (no longer have a car) but from memory it was more set up towards pond. The Brighton marina shop was formerly at the Race Hill and has a huge range (and they are happy to source if there is something they don't have in stock). Paradise Park in Newhaven also has a small selection and I got some shrimp from there that have happily bred. Happy shopping!

Thanks again. I have a few places to visit now 👍😀
