I am a long-time aquatic gardener living in NE Florida, USA and am working on a new to me 55 gallon (208 liter) tank and have a smaller 20 gallon tank in my man cave/music room (electric bass and drums/percussion). I moved here from San Diego, California about 2.5 years ago and decided it was about time to put a tank in our family room. I am still working on the plan for the tank, fish species and plant types - although I am going to add a lot of bucephalandra to the tank. I am going to use a sump that will be about half the volume of the tank and the filter material will be Poret foam - 1x 10 ppi, 2x20 ppi, 1x30 ppi and 1x45 ppi. As an experienced home repair person, I will be doing all of the plumbing, overflow and wiring for the tank. For lighting, I will be trying the sB Basic Freshwater light - I am using a Finnex 24/7 Planted on the small tank but will need higher light levels with the deeper tank.
