Hello from Kenosha Wisconsin,
My goal is to have a tank with beautiful aquascape. This is my first fish tank. I started about 4 months ago mainly for my 8 year old son. Most days I'm glad I did, some days I question why I got myself into this. I'm sure it's not the first or last time you'll hear this....I didn't think it would be so challenging to have a tank. So many things I didn't think or know to take into consideration. I feel with advice from this forum I can get it rite and enjoy this hobby.
I'm not the type to give up when a challenge presents it's self and that's what brought me here today.

I have a 55 gallon tank, sand substrate and using Biohome Ultimate media in a SUNSUN HW-704B canister filter.
 
Hi Maggie,
Don't sweat it, start slow and make sure you have fish in the tank that your son can enjoy. Even a bunch of guppies that have a lot of color and movement might be good for your son. Aquascapes are living ecosystems that can evolve and will change over time, what you have now doesn't have to be "perfect" for you to enjoy it.

Have you any pics of your tank? You would be surprised how may times new members have posted pics and then experts here see an issue you did not even know you had.
It is also nice to see people's tanks and their aquascapes.
