Started hardscaping my tall office tank this weekend (950L x 500D x 750H) which will be home to 8 angel fish I’m growing out in another tank, and 3 L number plecos already living together peacefully.

It’s the biggest tank I’ve scaped and I’m conscious that moving stuff around is going to be a lot more challenging!

Open to feedback before I cap it. Thanks in advance!

Had another play today - added some more rock and capped, then used some spider wood sticks as the wood structure was missing something - hopefully they’ll blend at some point.

I’m just not sure about the left hand side of the tank and the way the wood is positioned. Does anyone else think this looks off? Or with planting will it blend in a bit better?

Kinda simple, but it's got punch. I guess you want lots of swim space for the angels too. Works for me! I think it'll look great grown in. If you shuffle left I think you'll lose balance. You could break that straight edge with a smaller piece of hardscape or probably also just with a thoughtful low-mid-background plant gradient.
In other news, that horned, beaked creature from some hellish mythology you currently have living in your tank will hopefully calm down with some plants to keep it company...

Yea, the mid ground gradient idea was where my mind was headed. Despite the straight edge I don’t want to lose planting space to more hardscape.

I might play with some more rock on the right hand side and under the root to give some more interest, but I’m going for heavy planting and plenty of swim space!

Laughed outloud at the horned, beaked creature 😂

How’s it going ? Do you think more wood and a bit more rock would help? Left to right triangle ?
Nice bit of wood btw 🙂

Yes nice piece of wood , where did you get it, my lfs has a good selection but are way too big for what I’m looking for

I actually got it from my LFS - they had some nice bits in but also seen some stuff on eBay or riverwood aquatics

Got a random bit of rotala macrandra next to the echinodorus parviflora I need to pull out but otherwise I’m reasonably happy with the end result

That’s really nice 🙂 I like the open water on the rhs, I’d of thought the angel fish would appreciate that too! Mines ticking along thought I’d share a pic. No fish yet though.
