Hi all,

Just a quick question.

I understand that there are 2 versions of this plant, the red and green one.
I had the green version before but i bought it again. However they send me a red one.

Is it possible that red turn green in time ? (emersed - submersed)

Kind Regards
Kevin

And the Mattogrosense is often sold but mistaken and you get the Tuberculatum instead. The red one sold is 9 out of 10 the tuberculatum an extremely difficult Myriophyllum to grow indoors, needs tons of light. The true Mattogrosense is green i even think it doesn't turn red at all. But not 100% sure.. But not according this database..

That's what i thought. I've send the LFS an email that they send me the wrong plant. Thanks all!

That's an argue you probably can't win, it's probably a yet not fully resolved dispute among botanists, it happens with several Myriophyllums. It seems the often sold M. Brasiliensis with the red stems is in fact the emersed form of the M. Aquaticum according to other sources. 🙂 For us it is a mater of whom you rather believe..

I understand. One way to win this "battle": I've bought this plant online, which means i can send the plant back within 14 days. Second, the name and picture on the website is different.
The picture shows a green mattogrossense, the one i received is a Red Matagrossense says the card 😀. So the information they provide isn't correct.

I had this before with the Ludwigia Glandulosa. Everytime you think you bought the right one online, you receive some other variant/species.

Kind Regards

When they take it back than why not.. I more meant the arguing about what it is, is rather a yes vs. no issue.. They or the nursery they get it from still folows out dated information or still dispute recent reviewed identifications as false. The lfs doesn't argue with the label.. The best argument used i've heard is "Internet tells a lot of bs" And that shuts the door. Anyway look around, the so alledged Red Matagrossense is usualy a seasonal offer always in the summer and never potted. It is very light demanding and probably nursed only in the summer in controlled condition under natural light and harvested. A piece of lead on it and shipped on to the lfs.. After the summer they are sold out again. At least that's what i notice in my region. It's about unobtainable outside the summer months. I've tried and it is such a demanding plant, even outdoors partialy shaded it doesn't really thrive. Pitty actualy, because it's a beautifull plant..
